How To Listen To The Cat

Retuning Your DAB Radio

Most modern DAB radios will find ‘The Toon’ but if it doesn’t, how do I retune my DAB digital radio so I can listen?

Most digital radios come with an ‘Auto-Tune’ or ‘Auto-Scan’ button that you can press to retune your radio. If your digital radio doesn’t have this button, don’t worry, you can still retune your radio by pressing the ‘menu’ button and scrolling through the options until you find ‘Auto-Tune’ or ‘Auto-Scan’. Once you have found it, simply select this option. After retuning your radio, any new stations found will be added to the list on the display. You can easily scroll through the display to find
the stations available to you. This process should only take a few minutes.

What if Retuning Doesn’t Work?
If retuning your digital radio doesn’t work or the new stations cannot be found, you may need to perform a ‘Full-Scan’. This can be done by either pressing and holding down the ‘Auto-Tune’ or ‘Auto-Scan’ button until a ‘Full-Scan’ begins or by pressing the ‘menu’ button and scrolling through the options until you find ‘Full-Scan’ or a similar option.

If your DAB radio still cannot find us, you may be out of our transmitter’s range, click for current coverage, and therefore need to try other methods of listening to us, as listed below.

Smart Speakers

For Amazon’s Alexa speakers – say ‘Alexa enable skill,’ when Alexa asks you what skill, you say ‘The Cat Radio.’ Then all you need to do is say ‘Alexa Play The Cat Radio’ everytime you want to listen.

For Google speakers – go to your Google Home application. Once you’re in, kindly select the “account” option located at the top right of the screen and ensure that you’re logged in.

Next, please click on the “Assistant settings” tab and proceed to scroll down to “all settings”. After that, kindly select “explore” and search for The Cat Radio.

Mobile Phones

We are in the process of developing our very own App but in the meantime – the wonderful folks a ‘myTuner’ and ‘Get Me Radio’ have provided us with the convenience of listening to The Cat while on the move. You can easily access the service by downloading their app from the Apple or Google App Stores.

Upon successful installation of the App on your device, please proceed to launch it and select “Search By Name”. Following
this, kindly input ‘The Cat’ and click on the play button to start streaming.

If you register on the app, you can save The Cat as a favourite so it’s there for you as soon as you open the app.

Online & On Your TV

Can’t be bothered with apps ? Then you are in luck, as you can listen directly to The Cat on our website here – just click ‘Listen Live‘ above.

How about listening in the comfort of your own front room or bedroom ? Well, we’ve got that covered too. Whether you’ve got a Smart TV, Android, Fire TV Stick/Cube, Roku TV or Apple TV, simply head over to it’s native app store and search for ‘myTuner‘ or ‘Get Me Radio‘.

After installation, search for ‘The Cat’ and BOOM – the sound of Sunderland chat and quality music will fill your room.
